In development. coPayer is not taking live deals yet, and everything below describes how it will work.

No one is hiding.

Nobody goes first. Nothing moves until you both say so.

A working demo, nothing real, no money moves.
Cars. Tradie deposits. Flatmate bonds. Marketplace pickups.

One deal, start to finish.

Tap a step. Watch the phone.

Step 1 of 6

Or walk through it yourself →

Both sides, covered.

Neither of you has to go first.

Buying

You never pay a stranger, and never first

The seller verifies who they are. On a vehicle we run the PPSR check and match their name to the registered owner. Nothing leaves your account until you are standing next to it and you tap pay. Walk away and nothing has moved.

Selling

You only meet people who can pay

Buyers show their funds before you give up a Saturday. Offers arrive sorted, highest first, and you pick one. Nobody else can pay on it after that. You hand over when a code appears, and a code only exists once their bank has sent the money.

What we cannot tell you. We check the person, not the thing. A verified seller is a real person with a real name. It is not a promise the car is a good car. Inspect it yourself, the way you would anyway.

Put it in the ad.

It is an image, not a link. Nothing to block.

Nothing moves until you both agree.
This code only opens the listing. It never asks you to pay.
coPayer never holds your money.
  • Photo five in a Marketplace carousel. Under a windscreen wiper. Stapled to a quote.
  • Three sizes, made for you. Square, story and a print sheet.
  • Save it to your photos or send it straight from your phone.
  • Every card says what it cannot do, because fake escrow codes in adverts are already a scam.

Which bank are you with?

Only the buyer's bank matters. The seller can be anywhere.

Buyers will pay from these

The banks that support open banking payments in New Zealand.

ANZ ASB BNZ Westpac Kiwibank NZHL

Your bank sets the limit

Every bank caps how much can be sent through open banking, and that cap is usually your own daily payment limit. On a larger deal you may need to raise it with your bank first, the same way you would for any big transfer. We will tell you before the day, not in a driveway.

Selling? Any New Zealand bank account works. The money lands in your account the way a transfer does. Your bank does not need to be on the list.

We are still confirming the exact limits with our open banking provider, and this page will be updated once we have them. Bank names are used to say who we connect to. coPayer is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with any of them.

What we do.

  • Check who everyone is, buyer and seller.
  • Run the PPSR check on a vehicle and match the seller's name to the registered person.
  • Look in the buyer's bank once, with permission.
  • Set up one payment. Capped. Expiring.
  • Send it, bank to bank, when the buyer taps pay.
  • Give the seller a code only after it sends.
  • Keep a record of every decision.

What we do not.

  • Hold your money. Ever.
  • Freeze a balance. No one in New Zealand can.
  • Check the car, the work or the room. We check people, not things.
  • Transfer ownership. NZTA, as usual.
  • Decide disputes. Disputes Tribunal, as today.

One fee. The buyer pays it.

Shown before they commit. The seller receives the full sale price.

$2 + 1.2% Two dollars, plus 1.2 percent of the deal, never more than $89. A seller can choose to cover it instead.
DealBuyer paysSeller gets
$300 phone$305.60$300
$800 couch$811.60$800
$2,000 trailer$2,026$2,000
$18,500 car$18,589$18,500

The seller always receives the full sale price. Nothing to pay for looking, checking funds, cancelling, or if the bank declines.

Anywhere someone has to go first.

One fee, split down the middle. Only when it pays.

$18,500

Private car sale

Know they are real before Saturday. Paid on the spot.

$6,200

Tradie deposit

Each stage its own deal. Paid the day it is signed off.

$1,400

Deals happen when nobody is guessing.

Both people real. Both seeing the same thing. Nothing moving until you both say so.
